The Design Brief

The garden needed to be family friendly with planting to withstand the needs of two young boys and two busy adults. The garden needed the fences replaced. A space to grow vegetables and fruit was required and a splashy water feature.

The Solution

A large lawn area was retained for the boys to play on preceded by a feature brick area of the shape. A cobbled water feature was created to the left of this feature area with a large patio near the house. The planting is largely jungle style shrubs, grasses and herbs. Fatsia japonica, Miscanthis sinesis and Phyllostachys nigra (Black bamboo) all pretty tough garden plants.
